Objective Basic life support (BLS) by laypersons is essential for surviving sudden cardiac death in the community. The present study investigates BLS skill knowledge of German laypersons in a public community place and examines the effect of the interval between the last BLS course and present skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Background: Guidelines give robust recommendations on which biopsies should be taken when there is endoscopic suggestion of gastric inflammation. Adherence to these guidelines often seems arbitrary. This study aimed to give an overview on current practice in tertiary referral centres across Europe. Methods: Data were collected at 10 tertiary referral centres. Demographic data, the indication for each procedure, endoscopic findings, and the number and sampling site of biopsies were recorded. Free microvascular tissue transfer for the reconstruction of midfacial defects in oncological patients

This study reviews our experience with free microvascular tissue transfer for the repair of midfacial defects in surgical oncology. From 2000 to 2008, eight patients with maxillectomy defects were immediately reconstructed using free flaps. Their clinical charts were retrospectively reviewed to record demographic data, ablative and reconstructive procedures, complications and outcome. Free tissue transfer was successful in all patients, giving an overall success rate of 100%. The mean follow-up time was 4 to 101 months (mr: 43.8). Three patients died from the disease giving a patient mortality of 30%, while five patients are alive, free of disease and back to their normal daily activities. …

Background The objectives of this investigation were to assess prevalence and severity of dentofacial abnormalities and orthodontic treatment need among adolescents in Mangalore taluk. Material and Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1340 children from randomly selected high schools. Ejercicio físico regular y variables cognitivas y emocionales en mujeres

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer el efecto del tiempo de práctica de ejercicio físico y las horas semanales de práctica sobre algunos aspectos cognitivos, emocionales y antropométricos (peso). 250 mujeres (edad media= 49.08 años) completaron cuestionarios de salud psicológica y datos sociodemográficos. Los análisis estadísticos mostraron que las horas semanales de práctica predicen parte de la varianza del peso, estabilidad emocional, autoconcepto y autoestima.
